Architect points to laxity of administration authorities
CHANDIGARH: Former professor of Chandigarh College of Architecture, Kiran Joshi, on Friday claimed that she was the one making sincere efforts to persuade the administration to inventory and digitize all records on the pattern of Foundation Le Corbusier and had also submitted two detailed reports on the same. A committee for the purpose was also set up in 2004-05 but the project was never completed, she said.
Addressing a press conference, she pointed out that the catalogue of Artcurial auction house in Paris, on February 16, clearly mentioned that the blueprints had originated from the collection of Giani Rattan Singh.
She said tapestry sketches and many other drawings in the very same art curial catalogue were mentioned as having originated from “private collections of an old collaborator of Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret”, but the UT administration did not even care to find out who this old collaborator was.
She added that it would be wrong to say that the urban planning department maintained no records of documents in its possession.
